Fund: Dr. Roger Ming-Huang Lee Endowed Scholarship Fund Department: SOM Gifts Endow Schol Dept D02008 Purpose: Graduate Student Support BACKGROUND Dr. Roger Ming-Huang Lee grew up in San Gabriel Valley and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at UCLA in 1991. He subsequently attended UC Davis School of Medicine and completed his residency training in June 1998 at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. After working for a few years in Boston, he eventually returns to Los Angeles and has been a physician at UCLA Health since 2001. He is married to Jamie Fang who grew up in the San Bernardino County and graduated from UC Riverside in Business Administration. Both want to give back to the community and support UC Riverside School of Medicine’s goal on training physicians who plans to practice in underserved communities. Fund purpose: This Fund shall be used to provide award(s) no less than $1,000 to a medical student(s) who have expressed interest and passion for leadership and service to underserved communities. Criteria and Selection Process The School of Medicine Scholarship Committee will select medical students who meet the following criteria: - In good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and represents academic excellence - Demonstrated interest and passion for leadership and service to underserved communities - Financial need In years when there is no candidate who meets the criteria, awards will be held until the following year. The award may be renewed if a student recipient remains in good academic standing through an application process. Eff. 12/31/2022 - Converted to 600515
