Mankau Endowed Graduate Student Fellowship Fund Department: CNAS Scholarships:Gifts:Endow D01335 Purpose: Graduate Student Support Background: Reinhold Mankau was a faculty member at the University of California, Riverside for 33 years. He belonged to the first generation of scientists that gave the UCR Department of Nematology its stellar worldwide reputation. Sarojam K. Mankau is a California State University Emeritus Professor in Biology. The Reinhold and Sarojam K. Mankau Endowed Graduate Student Fellowship Fund is established by Sarojam in rememberance of her beloved husband of 67 years. Throughout his career, Reinhold was known for selecting graduate students and postdocs for his lab with a lens for diversity, equity and inclusion. He also worked with several international students from Spain, Italy, China, and Australia. The Reinhold and Sarojam K. Mankau Endowed Graduate Student Fellowship Fund has been created to celebrate and promote diversity amongst graduate students in Nematology, with a preference for underrepresented or international students. Fund Purpose: This fund shall be used to provide graduate student fellowship support in The College of Natural & Agricultural Sciences department of Nematology. Criteria and Selection Process: The recipient(s) of the award will be selected by the Chair overseeing graduate education in nematology (currently the Department of Nematology) and will be administered by the same department to support graduate education in nematology. Preference will be given to underrepresented students in sciences, first-generation students and international students.
