Fund: Cunnison Family Scholarship Endowed Fund Department: Undergrad Student Financial Aid D02089 Purpose: Undergraduate Student Support BACKGROUND Except for short stints for education and military service, Liz and Steve Cunnison have lived in Riverside all their lives. They attended Riverside public schools, raised their two sons, and spent their working lives there. Liz is a retired high school teacher. Steve is a retired judge of the Superior Court of California for the County of Riverside. The Cunnisons are interested in helping Riverside Unified School District ("RUSD") students and graduates to achieve their personal goals and fulfill their community obligations through higher education. They also hope that the Cunnison Family Scholarship will encourage others to support deserving students at UC Riverside. Theybelieve that UCR combines academic excellence with unequaled opportunity for its scholars, and especially those from underserved communities. They think UCR offers best results for their charitable giving. This scholarship embodies their dedication to serving their community through the advancement of education and providing Riverside scholars with opportunities for success. By establishing the Cunnison Family Scholarship they are supporting students and honoring their family legacy through the gift of education in perpetuity. Fund Purpose: This Fund shall be used to provide student support to undergraduate students who have attended a high school within the Riverside Unified School District. It is not limited to any discipline. Criteria and Selection Process 1. Undergraduate students who have attended a high school within the Riverside Unified School District 2. The same student can be awarded the scholarship in consecutive years and the scholarship is not limited to first year students 3. Selection shall be made on the basis of need 4. The Office of Financial Aid will make the selection In years when there is no candidate who meets the criteria, awards will be held until the following year.
