Dr. John C. Fay (Big C) Exhausted Eligibility & Summer Aid Endowed Scholarship Fund

Intercollegiate Athletics D01099

Graduate or Undergraduate Student Support

Dr. John C. Fay has been a generous supporter of University of California, Riverside (“UCR”) for over 40 years. After inheriting a portion of his parents’ estate, John felt inspired to create 2 endowments that account for two of his interests and passions: Athletics and Mathematics. With the creation of this fund, John’s goal is to make a difference for U.C. Riverside Intercollegiate Athletics by promoting academic success through financial assistance of former and/or current student-athletes with their progress towards degree completion.

Now, to celebrate John’s parents, and the Fay family’s ties to higher education, the UC system, and the "Big C" fight song, John seeks to establish the Dr. John C. Fay (Big C) Exhausted Eligibility &
Summer Academic Aid Endowed Scholarship Fund. As a competitive intramural and intercollegiate
athletics participant at UCR (JV volleyball in 1978; lettering in varsity volleyball in 1979, '80, '81 and '83; and playing club volleyball in 1984, '85, and '86) John has enjoyed attending Highlander Athletics games and supporting student-athletes. With the creation of this endowment, John will continue to support student athletes in need of additional course credit as a result of the following: exhausted eligibility, progress toward degree benchmarks, or non-degreed athletes returning to finish their degree to improve academic progress rates.

The creation of this fund is also to celebrate the "Big C" fight song by keeping it alive and tied to the concepts of athletic and educational excellence in perpetuity.
