Fund: Doris and James Ferguson Endowed Scholarship Fund Department: SOE Dean's Office Dept D01000 Purpose: Graduate Student Support Fund Purpose: Doris and James Ferguson Endowed Scholarship Fund General Purpose: This fund shall support the next generation of educators. Background: Doris (Temple) Ferguson graduated from U.C. Riverside College of Humanities with a Bachelor of Arts major in English in 1971. She then earned her Stanford Teaching Credential (Life) at UCR School of Education in 1972. She went on to teach elementary school in Riverside, mostly for Riverside Unified School District, for thirty-seven years. During this time she was active in the California Teachers Association and the local teachers association, serving as president of the Associated Teachers of Metropolitan Riverside for several years. Now in retirement, Doris, along with her husband James (Jim) Ferguson, seeks to create an endowed scholarship to support future generations of elementary school teachers in Riverside and beyond. Criteria and Selection: This fund will support School of Education credential students who are pursuing their multiple subject credential. The recepient(s) will be selected by a committee selected by the Dean or their designee. In years when there is no candidate who meets the criteria, awards will be held until the following year.
