Purpose:

Undergraduate Student Support

Background:
The donors wish to establish the scholarship in honor of their parents Robert L. and Dorothy J. McKibben and Harry C. and Ada L. Turner, in recognition of their devotion to their children's education and the conservation of the natural beauty and resources of California.

General Purpose:
The expendable distributions from this Fund shall be used to provide scholarship support for undergraduate students each year in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences.

Criteria and Selection Process:

Eff. 11/12/2021: The scholarship committee of the Earth and Planetary Sciences Department will select student applicants based on the following criteria:

- Undergraduate in a major within the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences
- Good academic standing
- If possible, priority will be given to low-income status students
- If possible, priority will be given to first-generation status students
- If possible, priority will be given to students whose interests are related or concerned with the natural beauty and/or natural resources of California

As the endowment grows, the number of scholarships made each year may be increased. The minimum scholarship amount for any single recipient may be $1,000. In years when there are no candidates who meet the criteria, the scholarship funds will be held until the following year.
