Fund: Live Oak Endowed Fund Department: Undergrad Student Financial Aid D02089 Purpose: Undergraduate Student Support Background: Both Brian and GOlnar come from families with history and love for the University of California system. It was in classrooms and labs at UCR that they discovered subjects that inspired them. At the same time, both had a commitment to education and community. Brian taught at the Learning Center on campus and Golnar volunteered at local schools and received her teaching credentials while at UCR. After graduating from UCR, Golnar earned her masters from USF and Brian his PhD from UCLA. Today they live in New York with their three young children. General Purpose: This fund shall be used to provide student financial support for undergraduate students with any school or college at UC Riverside. Criteria and Seleciton Process: The selection process shall be administered by the Office of FInancial Aid. The award shall be used to provide student financial support for students meeting the follwoing criteria: 1. Undergraduate student in good academic standing 2. Family or personal income level qualifies them for financial aid, but they may not be eligible for state or federal (government) grants/financial aid programs 3. Undocumented student are eligible for this award; however, the award is not limited to undocumented students 4. Preference shall be provided to students who have overcome personal or family hardship, ahve had to overcome barriers such as English as a second language, or come from an economically disadvantaged community
