Fund: Neil Campbell CEPCEB Undergraduate Student Award Fund Department: Center for Plant Cell Biology Dept D01263 Purpose: Undergraduate Student Support This fund shall be used to provide student support in the Center for Plant Cell Biology. The Neil Campbell CEPCEB Undergraduate Student Award Fund shall provide critical scholarship support to promising young scientists in perpetuity. Background: The late Neil Campbell ('75 Ph.D biology) originally helped establish a current-use Center for Plant Cell Biology (CEPCEB) fund around the time that the Center for Plant Cell Biology was established. An award in Dr. Campbell's name was one of the awards made from the fund. After his passing, his wife, Rochelle Campbell, and their daughter, Allison Campbell, contributed a generous gift to endow the award fund in perpetuity. General Purpose: This Fund shall be used to provide student support in the Center for Plant Cell Biology. The Neil Campbell CEPCEB Undergraduate Student Award Fund shall provide critical scholarship support to promising young scientists in perpetuity. Criteria and Selection Process: - Recipients are selected annually by the Director of the Center for Plant Cell Biology, or their designee, in recognition of research excellence in plant cell biology, genomics and bioinformatics by undergraduate students. - The award is intended to provide financial assistance to enable students to engage in research. - More than one award may be awarded each year. In years when there is no candidate who meets the criteria, awards will be held until the following year.
