Background:

After graduating from UC Riverside (1977) Susan Atherton served for 25 years in executive management positions in the enterprise solftware and cloud computing industries. Employers included NCR Corporation, GE Information Systems, Oracle Corporation, Rightpoint and DoubleClick. A noted philanthropist, Susan has served in leadership positions for the American Red Cross and the Humane Society of the United States. As a passionate supporter of education, she has served her alma mater as a Trustee for the UCR Foundation and as an Executive Fellow in the School of Business, mentoring students preparing for careers in business. The Susan Atherton Endowed Graduate Award is established in support of UCR's first comprehensive campaign and the AGSM Scholars Initiative.

Purpose and Criteria:

This Fund shall be used to provide support to students from the local Southern California region pursuing a graduate degree in the UCR Anderson Graduate School of Management (AGSM).

The Dean of the School of Business or his/her designee is authorized to determine the specific criteria and selection process for the award. In years when no candidate meets the criteria, the funds may be held until a subsequent year when there are eligible candidates. In years when more than one candidate is deemed worthy of support, more than one award may be given provided there is sufficient funding.
