Fund: Chancellor Timothy P. White & Dr. Karen N. White Endowed Scholarship Fund Department: Undergrad Student Financial Aid D02089 Purpose: Undergraduate Student Support History and Purpose: Timothy White served as the eighth Chancellor at the University of California Riverside from March 2009 to December 2012 and Karen White served as the Associate of the Chancellor. During their short time at UCR, they permanently changed the campus and regional communities in countless ways. During Chancellor White's tenure, UCR produced more than 18,000 graduates, completed a campus-wide strategic plan, launched a new School of Medicine, established a new School of Public Policy, opened the downtown Culver Center of the Arts, revitalized highlander Athletics, laid the groundwork for UCR's first major comprehensive campaign, and successfully raised its national and international profile. Karen White led the establishment of Operation Education, an educational resource for injured military veterans as well as helped to create the Riverside Citrus Classic cycling event. To thank Tim and Karen White for their service and dedication to the campus, it is most fitting to name a scholarship in their honor. This Fund shall be used to provide undergraduate student support. Selection and Guidelines: This fund will be used to support undergraduate student(s) who are first in their family to attend college and majoring in a human health related field. Selection Process Undergraduate student(s) who are passionately interested in human health related careers such as allied health specialties, medicine, public health, etc. First generation student(s) with financial need.
