Fund: Botany & Plant Sciences Endowed Graduate Student Achievement Award In Honor Of Bill Thomson Department: Botany and Plant Sciences Dept D01047 Purpose: Graduate Student Support History and Purpose: Dr. Thomson was one of the early faculty members of the UCR campus. When the time came for his retirement he was asked by then chair of the Botany and Plant Sciences department, Dr. Betty Lord, to stay on for one year, to which he agreed. When he did retire in 1999, Dr. Lord honored him at his retirement party by announcing establishment of a fund in his name, the "Botany and Plant Sciences Graduate Student Achievement Award in Honor of Bill Thomson." Selection and Guidelines: The endowment is to be used for the benefit and support of the Botany and Plant Sciences Graduate Student Achievement Award in Honor of Bill Thomson. The Fund shall be under the direction of the Chair of the Botany and Plant Sciences Department, College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences. A committee shall be appointed by the Chair to review annual nominations for the award and to recommend their selection of the award recipient to the Chair.
