History and Purpose:

Tomaso, Bryant and Keenan Bradshaw have generously established an endowed award in the department of art to honor the memory of their father, the late professor emeritus William T. Bradshaw. This endowment will be used to reward undergraduate art majors who have demonstrated exceptional talent, achievement and future promise.

William T. Bradshaw, M.A., Professor Emeritus of Art, was one of the founding faculty members of the Department of Art at the University of California, Riverside. He joined the University of California, Riverside initially as an Instructor in 1957, becoming an Assistant Professor in 1959 and retiring in 1992 as a Professor of Art. Professor Bradshaw specifically taught painting and drawing. He also served as Chair of the Department of Art throughout his career. Professor Bradshaw was highly respected as a distinguished teacher, lecturer, artist and art historian.

William T. and Vittoria A. Bradshaw's sons, Tomaso B. Bradshaw, Bryant G. Bradshaw and Keenan M. Bradshaw, have established this endowment to honor their father's significant contributions to the UC Riverside Department of Art and their parents' memory.

The Gift Funds shall be used to establish an endowment fund ("Fund") to be used for the benefit and support of undergraduate student support inn the University of California, Riverside Department of Art. The Award will be administered by the Financial Aid Office, in accordance with established University Policy. Award recipient(s) will be selected by the Chair of the Department of Art, who may opt to consult with Department of Art faculty. Award recipient(s) must be promising Art Majors in their junior or senior year having demonstrated exceptional talent, achievement and future promise. Students will receive the Award during the first quarter of the academic year. While financial need is not a rigid criterion, preference will be given to students who do require financial assistance. The Award may be given to the same student(s) in two consecutive years.

Selection and Guidelines:

To be used for the benefit and support of undergraduate students in the University of California, Riverside Department of Arts. Award recipients must be promising Art Majors in their junior or senior year having demonstrated exceptional talent, achievement and future promises. The Award may be given to the same student(s) in 2 consecutive years. (Administered by the Financial Aid Office)
