History and Purpose:

In March 1982 San Diego Farmers, Inc. established the Bernarr Hall Agricultural Scholarship to honor long time friend and advisor, Bernarr J. Hall. Mr. Hall is recognized by the American Society for Plasticulture for his work with growers in advancing the "Unique Plastic Row Covers Developed for Vegetables in San Diego County." The endowment generates two scholarships annually for upper-division students (junior or senior) within the UCR College of Natural and Agricultural Science. Preference is given to students from San Diego County.

Selection and Guidelines:

Applicants write a 500 word essay stating how the award will help them attain their academic and career objectives, which must be relevant to California Agriculture. Two letters of recommendation are required. Minimum 3.2 GPA.
