Fund: Janet Boyce Endowed Scholarship Fund for Women in Science Department: CNAS Scholarships:Gifts:Endow D01335 Purpose: Graduate or Undergraduate Student Support History and Purpose: The late Dr. Alfred Boyce, a renowned Entomologist and one of UCR's founding faculty members, established the Dr. Janet Boyce Endowed Scholarship Fund for Women in Science in memory of his wife. The scholarship provides support for outstanding women who are pursing studies in the sciences. A scientist in her own right, Dr. Janet Boyce was very supportive of her husband's work. For example, in 1951, even though she had two small children with her, she accompanied her husband on a trip to search for parasites of the olive scale in Southern Asia. She also continued to excel in her own field. Selection and Guidelines: Recipient must be a woman with a 3.5 minimum GPA who is pursuing study in any field of science.
