Fund: Shawn Biehler Endowed Fund Department: Earth & Planetary Sciences Dept D01055 Purpose: Graduate or Undergraduate Student Support History and Purpose: In July 2000, a group of former students and colleagues of Dr. Shawn Biehler established an endowed scholarship fund to support the Summer of Applied Geophysics Experience UC Riverside student participation in (SAGE) Program. Award recipients were selected in accordance with university policy by the geophysical professors in the Department of Earth Sciences. The applicants selected for this merit-based award were to reflect the characteristics of drive, enthusiasm, scholastic achievement and a dedication to the field of geophysics-qualities longtime associated with the fund's honorary namesake. It is the Donor's intent that the annual payout generated by the fund be used to help recruit and retain exceptional graduate students in field geophysics or applied geophysics. Examples of possible fund use include field monies for student thesis work, summer internships, SAGE stipends, and student field trips for graduates or undergraduates. Selection and Guidelines: There is no application procedure for students. The Department Chair will notify award recipients. Request for Information: Request Scholarship Information
