Fund: Bank of America Business Leaders Scholarship in AGSM Department: BUS Infrast Admin Prgm Srv Sup D01039 Purpose: Graduate or Undergraduate Student Support History and Purpose: In May 1994 with a $100,000 gift from the Bank of America Foundation, the Bank of America Business Leader Scholarship was established to provide scholarships to underrepresented students in The A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management. Students selected for this award demonstrate promise in the field of business as well as exceptional academic accomplishment. This scholarship builds upon an enduring partnership between Bank of America and UCR. More than 50 years ago, a Bank of America branch manager named Phillip Boyd helped establish the University of California's Riverside campus. He later went on to establish UCR's first foundation board, its first athletic booster club, its Botanical Garden Auxiliary, as well as many other programs including the Boyd Chair in Finance in The A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management. Other Bank of America leaders, including Jacques Yeager and Barbara Robinson, have continued as benefactors to UCR. Through the support of these people and others like them, The A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management has achieved national prominence as a school of business. Selection and Guidelines: AGSM administrators meet annually with UCR Financial Aid staff to choose the recipients of the Bank of America Business Leadership Scholarship. Recipients are featured in the AGSM newsletter, University press releases, and meet the AGSM Governing Board. AGSM staff works with Bank of America on scholarship publicity.
