History and Purpose:

The Roy T. Thompson Poetry Prize was established in 1980 by Dr. M. R. Warden Sr. in honor of his father-in-law, Roy T. Thompson, a former instructor in English at USC. The award is given to the best poem selected for publication in Mosaic, a literary magazine published by the Department of Creative Writing.

Selection and Guidelines:

Awarded to a UCR undergraduate, graduate, or Extension student for the best poem published in UCR's literary magazine, Mosaic. Mosaic's editorial staff is not eligible.
