Purpose:

Undergraduate Student Support

This Fund shall be used to provide support for undergraduate students in Economics who have demonstrated perseverance and leadership.


Criteria and Selection Process
This Fund is to be administered by the Department of Economics at the Direction of the Chair. Recipients shall be identified by a committee of Economics faculty in the spring quarter with disbursement occurring in Fall of the following academic year.

The award shall be used to provide support for students meeting the following criteria:
1. A declared Economics major.
2. GPA of 3.0 or higher.
3. A student who is underrepresented, and/or has faced barriers to accessing an education in the social sciences.

Preference shall be given to students who engage with the Women’s Resource Center on campus and/or members of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), as long as AAUW accepts all gender affiliations to participate, and/or students who have an interest in the activities of the American Economics Association’s Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP).

DACA and undocumented students are welcome to apply.

Students should be asked to submit a brief personal statement on overcoming challenges and developing leadership to be considered for this scholarship. It is the Donor’s intent that student recipients be awarded as much as their financial aid package will permit, up to $2,500.
