Fund: Charlie Michelson and Morgan Young Oakland Promise Scholarship Fund Department: Undergrad Student Financial Aid D02089 Purpose: Undergraduate Student Support General Purpose: The fund will provide four (4) consecutive years of financial support for four (4) incoming UCR freshman from the Oakland Promise and/or Oakland Unified School District. Each Charlie Michelson & Morgan Young Oakland Promise Scholar will receive a $2,500 award each year for four years, beginning their freshman year. Criteria and Selection Process: The award shall be used to provide undergraduate student support for students meeting the following criteria: 1. Be an incoming freshman from the Oakland Promise Program or Oakland Unified School District. 2. Have financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). 3. Maintain good academic standing with the university. Students should apply through the Office of Financial Aid. In years that UCR does not have students enrolled from the Oakland Unified School District, awards can either be held until the following year, or made to students at other UC campuses who fulfill the criteria by an inter-location transfer. This decision is at the discretion of the donor. Should the donor wish for an inter-location transfer to fund Oakland students at a different UC, the UC office of the President should be contacted to determine which UC campus is in greatest need of this scholarship.
