Fund: UCR Oakland Promise Scholarship Fund Department: Undergrad Student Financial Aid D02089 Purpose: Undergraduate Student Support General Purpose: This fund shall be used to provide scholarship support for incoming undergraduates (first year) from Oakland Unified School District or affiliated with the Oakland Promise program. The purpose of this fund is to award annual scholarship/award(s) in the range of $2,000 - $4,000 per student each year. The UC's Office of the Presidents' intent is for each student to receive at least four consecutive years of scholarship support through this fund, thereby significantly reducing the financial burden students experience. Criteria and Selection Process: The award shall be used to provide undergraduate student support for students meeting the following criteria: 1. Be an incoming freshman from the Oakland Promise program or Oaklan Unified School District. 2. Have financial need as determined by FAFSA 3. Maintain good academic standing with the university. Students shall apply for the award through the Office of Financial Aid. In years that UCR does not have students enrolled from Oakland Unified School District, awards can either be held until the following, or made to students at other UC campuses who fulfill the criteria by an inter-location transfer. The UC office of the President should be contacted to determine which UC campus is in greatest need for this scholarship.
