Fund: Dr. Edwin Ravi Alexander Award in Biochemistry Department: Biochemistry Dept D01045 Purpose: Undergraduate Student Support History and Purpose: Dr. Edwin Ravi Alexander received a degree in Biochemistry from UC Riverside. He created the Dr. Edwin Ravi Alexander Award in Biochemistry to be used for the benefit and support of undergraduate biochemistry students who show a strong commitment to community and public service while excelling in their studies. Selection and Guidelines: Award decisions are made annually in January. Applicants must be UC Riverside undergraduate students majoring in Biochemistry, have junior or senior standing, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in science and mathematics courses. Awardees are chosen by the Chair of the Department of Biochemistry in consultation with the Department of Biochemistry's Chair of Undergraduate Advising on the basis of the applicants' submitted application materials. To Apply for this Award: Send a letter to the Chair of the Department of Biochemistry describing the community and public service activities in which you have been engaged while an undergraduate Biochemistry major at UC Riverside. Also arrange to have three letters of recommendation, including at least one from an individual who has directly supervised your community/public service activities, sent to the Biochemistry Department Chair. Finally, official college transcripts, sent directly to the Chair of the Department of Biochemistry, must be included as part of the application.
