Stella R. Arambel Memorial Award

Psychology Dept D01030

Graduate Student Support

History and Purpose:

The scholarship is named in memory of Arambel, who earned her undergraduate degree and her Ph.D. in psychology from UCR. In 2004 she took a position as assistant professor at the University of New Hampshire, but died in an automobile accident the following year.

The award was established by her family and colleagues at various universities, said Steven Clark, a UCR professor of psychology. Stella was near and dear to many of us, and we wanted to do something to remember her. She was a terrific student with a big heart and one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet.

Christine Chiarello, UCR psychology professor and advisor to Arambel, adds Stella was an exceptional student with a fierce commitment to research. We are delighted to be able to honor her memory in this way.

Selection and Guidelines:

Students can not apply for this award. This award will be given to a student at the discretion of the Department of Psychology. Psychology personnel will notify all recipients.
