History and Purpose:

Dr. C. Michael Webster was appointed Vice Chancellor-Administration at UC, Riverside in 1992. He retired in 2005 after 13 productive years leaving a powerful legacy at UCR. He had been responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and development of more than $700 million in new buildings and renovations that added 1 million square feet of indoor space on campus. He led the campus sports program in its move to Division I competition and the Big West Conference, and managed the sale of the Moreno Valley field station, the largest land sale in the history of the UC system.

Dr. Webster had a strong regard for his colleagues who he believed "were tireless in their pursuit to make UCR a preeminent university." In keeping with this idea, Dr. Webster and his colleagues have created the Dr. C. Michael Webster Scholarship Fund.
