History and Purpose:

The Gary Wanczuk Memorial Scholarship was established to preserve the memory of Gary Wanczuk, a member of an old ranching family from the Hemet area who became the Chair of the Western Riverside County Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan (MSHCP) Advisory Committee. His friends and family created a scholarship fund to honor his love of the land and his untiring efforts in bringing people together to find solutions to benefit environmental planning in Riverside County. The Gary Wanczuk Memorial Scholarship is awarded by the Center for Conservation Biology (CCB) to undergraduate students, who have demonstrated and show the potential to demonstrate contributions to conservation and/or environmental planning.
