Fund: Seung Family Scholarship Fund Department: UNEX Education D01067 Purpose: Graduate or Undergraduate Student Support History and Purpose: The Seung Family Scholarship fund was established in 2004 by Mrs. Kathy (Jung Soon) Seung and her family to encourage UCR students to study in other countries and expand their international experiences and global knowledge. This scholarship fund reflects Mrs. Seung's strong belief and longstanding financial commitment to the value of international education to develop global citizens. Selection and Guidelines: Scholarship funds are used to help defray the cost of travel and/or living expenses for UC Riverside students who participate in study abroad experiences at one of UCR Extension's many partner universities. While financial need is not a criterion for selection, these scholarships make it possible for many students to take advantage of study abroad opportunities who might not otherwise be able to participate. Scholarship awards are determined by a Seung Family Scholarship committee chaired by the Dean of UCR Extension. Since 2011, over 70 UCR students have benefitted from the Seung family generosity.
