History and Purpose:

Forrest S. Mosten is an internationally recognized lawyer, author, and speaker with a specialty in collaborative law and mediation. Mr. Mosten does not make court appearances, committed as he is to finding strategies for resolution within the parties in conflict. The author of several books on mediation and collaboration, as well as unbundling legal services, Mr. Mosten is an alumnus of UCR (Political Science, 69) and UCLA Law School where he teaches a course on mediation. His many awards include the 2008 Super Lawyer Award from the Los Angeles Lawyer Magazine and a Lifetime Achievement Award for Innovations in Legal Services given by a section of the American Bar Association. Known to friends and colleagues as "Woody," Mr. Mosten and his wife Jody Mosten are providing seed money to support an annual lecture at UCR in Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies and scholarship support to accompany one or more student internships in this area of study. Selection and Guidelines:

The purpose of this fund is to bring visiting speakers for the annual Forrest S. Mosten Lectureship in Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies which will address issues in conflict resolution and peace studies and to fund the Forrest S. Mosten Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies Internships for one or more UCR students who wish to pursue this area of study. This scholarship is attached to an internship in PCST (Peace and Conflict Studies minor).
