History and Purpose:

Established in 1998 by Carl Marcoux in memory of his father. The award is designed to support graduate students in Latin American History for dissertation research. An annual gift of $4,200, for five years, enables the $200 gift fee, and full distribution of the remaining $4,000 to a graduate student. The Graduate Division has agreed to match these funds, so each recipient will receive $8,000.

Selection and Guidelines:

The Department of History will nominate appropriate candidates to be approved by the Dean of Graduate studies. If there is no qualified candidate, the funds will be retained until the department identifies an appropriate recipient.
