The J.W. and Ida M. Jameson Scholarship

The J.W. and Ida M. Jameson Scholarship

Department:

Special Services

Purpose:

Graduate or Undergraduate Student Support

History and Purpose:

J. W. Jameson, a successful oilman, and his wife, Ida, gave quietly and generously to many charities during the course of their lifetimes. In 1956, two decades after her husband passed away, Ida established the J.W. and Ida M. Jameson Foundation in order to help her with her philanthropic interests. Since 1993, the Jameson Foundation has provided significant scholarship support for UCR students who have chronic physical conditions, easing financial pressures and enabling these individuals to focus on their academic challenges. The fund will provide student assistance in the form of graduate fellowships as well as undergraduate scholarships.

Selection and Guidelines:

A Jameson Scholarship may be awarded to a student with a physical disability or chronic health condition. Riverside County residents and transfer students from Riverside Community College are given priority. The student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and must be enrolled at least half-time. Selections are made by UCR's Office of Special Services.
