Fund: Genetics Graduate Student Scholarship Department: Genetics Program Dept D01239 Purpose: Graduate Student Support History and Purpose: The Graduate Program in Genetics, Genomics and Bioinformatics (GGB) at the University of California, Riverside! Our unique program offers a Ph.D. in three tracks: Molecular Genetics, Population and Evolutionary Genetics, and Genomics and Bioinformatics. In the Molecular Genetics track, modern molecular and/or classical genetics approaches are exploited during investigation of current topics in cellular and organismal biology. Research opportunities in the Population and Evolutionary Genetics track include quantitative genetics, population structure and dynamics, systematics and mechanisms of molecular evolution, and conservation biology. Genomics and Bioinformatics is our newest track, melding relevant statistics, computer science and life science courses into a flexible curriculum that serves both computationally- oriented informaticians and "wet-bench"-oriented genomicists. This Scholarship supports genetics graduate students. Selection and Guidelines: To provide scholarships and loans to graduate students in Genetics based on special financial needs.
