History and Purpose:

The Michael Chesney Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of English major Michael Chesney who was forced to withdraw from UCR in his senior year due to a serious illness, which ultimately took his life. The Chesney Scholarship provides financial assistance to students majoring in English and with a minor in music.

Selection and Guidelines:

This fund will be used for a male or female student with junior or senior class standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Recipient determined by Undergraduate Council. Financial Aid disburses. Students should apply through UCR Financial Aid Office by a deadline established by that office. Undergraduate Council will select recipient and through the English Dept., and the student will be notified by the Financial Aid Office.
