Department:

History of Art Dept D01034

Purpose:

Graduate Student Support

History and Purpose:

Barbara Brink, an alumna of UCR, received a B.A. in Art History. To afford graduate students in this field an opportunity to visit the art in which they have chosen to specialize, Ms. Brink created The Barbara Brink Graduate Travel Award in Art History. Under the direction of the Chair of the Department of Art History, one graduate student each year will be selected to receive a travel stipend.

This Fund shall be used to provide $2,000 per year in travel support for one graduate student in the History of Art to visit the art he or she has chosen to specialize.

Selection and Guidelines:

This Fund will be at the direction of Chair of the History of Art Department. Each winter, graduate students majoring in the History of Art will be asked to submit a 500 word essay on why they believe they would benefit from receiving this award. Under the direction of the Chair of the History of Art Department, a committee of at least three art history faculty will be asked to review these essays and, based on the content of these essays and general knowledge of the applicants, select one annual recipient. As a means of accountability, each award recipient will be asked to submit a synopsis of his or her travels to the Chair of the History of Art Department upon completion of travel.
