Purpose:

Undergraduate Student Support

History and Purpose:

This Fund shall be used to provide scholarship assistance to undergraduate UCR students in any major who demonstrates a focus on Engineering as a career.

Darin and Lori Anderson established the Ronald S. Anderson Memorial Engineering Scholarship in April 2005 to honor the memory of Darin Anderson's father, Ronald S. Anderson. Ronald Anderson was a successful mechanical engineer who was very appreciative and thankful for those that gave him assistance and encouragement during his early years. This fund is being established to provide that same encouragement and support to students who have displayed a commitment to bettering themselves through academic achievement, community service, and overcoming personal obstacles. The recipients must demonstrate a focus on engineering as a career.

Selection and Guidelines:

The UCR Alumni Association, in coordination with the Bourns College of Engineering as necessary, will administer this scholarship. Eligible students must be US citizens or permanent legal residents, full-time UCR students majoring in Engineering or similar sciences, freshman through junior status, GPA of 2.75 or better, demonstrate financial need, enrolled in 12 or more units, and demonstrated commitment to overcoming personal obstacles.

Each year, the successful recipient will be awarded $1,500.

The Financial Aid Office may also be consulted to ascertain financial need to determine if this award will affect the student's financial aid package.
