Flutie Fund in the Graduate School of Education (SEARCH)

Department:

Graduate School of Education

Purpose:

Graduate Student Support

History and Purpose:

Since the start of SEARCH in April 2007, the center has served members of the community through various avenues including a special focus on low-income and Spanish-speaking families. In addition, the center provides important research opportunities to faculty and graduate students working on autism and related disorders.

The Doug Flutie, Jr. Scholarships allow Ph.D. students who specialize in the field of autism to participate in a variety of outreach activities for families of children with autism, described in this report. Funding from the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism, Inc. assists current and future graduate students in providing direct assistance to families of children with autism spectrum disorder. We hope that within two years, a solid core base of support for SEARCH will be established and that sustainability of this center at UC Riverside will be assured.

Selection and Guidelines:

Students who are working on their dissertation and doing research in SEARCH are considered for this fellowship. Dr. Blacher in GSOE chooses the recipients for this award.
