Roland Blanchard Estate Fellowship

History and Purpose:



To establish a scholarship or fellowship at the University of California, Riverside, California...the interest to be used annually or biennially in assisting students, either graduate or undergraduate, regardless of race or foreign birth, working on outcrop problems, but if no such qualified student applies, then in assisting students working in one of the fields of geology, mineralogy or geochemistry of mineral deposits other than oil. The recipient of this scholarship or fellowship and its research project shall be approved by a committee consisting of Doctors George Tunell, Edmond F. Lawrence and Frank W. Dickson. Vacancies in such committee shall be filled by the remaining committee members. "The decedent requested that a portion of the University's share of the estate be used for the publication of his book 'Interpretation of Leached Outcrops,' the literary rights in which Mr. Blanchard bequeathed to Professor Tunell. No charge was made against the estate for publication of the book."

Selection and Guidelines:



There is no application procedure for students. The Department Chair will notify award recipients.
